This Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip takes less than five minutes to make, and it’s one of my go-to snacks or lunches when I want something quick, fresh, and high-protein.
Blended cottage cheese creates a creamy base that tastes surprisingly close to classic ranch dip, but lighter, more nutritious, and honestly just as delicious!
Cottage cheese replaces the usual mayo or sour cream, giving you a healthier snack without losing that ranch flavor you love! Fresh herbs, dried seasonings, and a little tang bring everything together. 😋

Ingredients and Tips

Not much is needed to make this ranch cottage cheese dip! Cottage cheese, a few herbs for freshness, and basic seasonings. It sounds simple because it is simple! Here’s what you’ll need, along with some ingredient tips:
Cottage Cheese: I use whole milk cottage cheese. It’s ideal for ranch dip because it provides a richer, creamier texture and full flavor, enhancing the dip’s smoothness. It creates a more indulgent and satisfying base for the herbs and spices. However, you can use low-fat if you prefer!
Fresh Additions: Fresh chives, dill, and parsley are used for their fresh, herbaceous flavors that enhance the overall taste of the ranch cottage cheese dip. Chives provide a mild onion-like flavor, parsley adds a bright, earthy note, and dill gives that distinct tangy flavor. Together, they create the perfect balanced blend of freshness.
Dried Onion Flakes: These are used in ranch dip and dressing because they provide a concentrated, savory onion flavor that blends well with the dip! It gives the dip that classic ranch taste.
Seasonings: Basic seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder add just the right amount of flavor to the ranch cottage cheese dip.
Water: Just a half tablespoon is used to slightly thin out the dip and help the ingredients come together nicely!
Buttermilk or Lemon Juice: This is optional, but it will add extra tang to the dip and help thin it out even more (if that’s the consistency you prefer). Try the dip without it first, then decide whether it needs it!

Serving Ideas
You can serve this ranch cottage cheese dip with just about anything. You really can’t go wrong! I like to have a variety to mix and match. And, offering a variety makes it feel more like a mini snack board. 😋
Vegetables
Fresh vegetables are always good. You can choose carrot sticks, celery, bell pepper strips, radishes, cucumber rounds, or even green beans or snap peas if you want something sweet and snappy!
Crackers and Chips
It’s also great with chips of all kinds. Tortilla chips, pita chips, and bagel chips are my favs!
And don’t skip the crackers. Triscuits, multigrain crackers, sesame crackers, pretzel crisps, or even simple saltines all work beautifully. The mix of creamy, herby dip with something crunchy is honestly the best!
