Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 round loaf of bread (see post above for suggestions)
- 10 tablespoons salted butter
- 8-20+ garlic cloves (use a lot if you normally like a garlicky stuffed garlic bread), minced or grated
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 1/2 cups freshly shredded cheese (such as mozzarella and Colby jack)
- 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, divided
- extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing (plus a little extra to serve on the side, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F/177°C. Cut the bread to appear like a checkerboard. About 7 slices across both ways. The cuts should be about 3/4 the way down. Be sure to not cut through the bread!

- Make the garlic butter. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat then add the garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for a couple of minutes to allow the flavors to infuse, constantly stirring so the garlic doesn’t burn. Spoon the mixture evenly into the crevices in the bread.

- Now, stuff the cheese into the crevices, reserving a little bit of parmesan to sprinkle on top of the bread.

- Brush the outside of the bread with olive oil then sprinkle some parmesan on top.

- Line a Dutch oven with parchment paper, place the bread in, and then the top on the dutch oven. Bake the stuffed garlic bread in the oven for 30 minutes with the top on and 15 minutes with the top off, or until the cheese is fully melted. Alternatively, you can wrap the bread with foil (see the post above for more information).

- Serve the bread with forks as this is the easiest way to pull each piece of bread out. Once all of the pieces are pulled out, cut the base of the bread into pieces (kind of like breadsticks). I like to serve extra olive oil on the side with a sprinkle of salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning, but this is optional. Enjoy!!!

- The bread pieces are meant to be pulled out with a fork. The remaining base can be cut into breadsticks. Serve extra olive oil that has been seasoned with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning or dried oregano on the side for dipping!
